How long have you lived in OB? Going on 26 wonderful years Favorite OBTC Event: The annual Chili Cook Off - making 60 gallons of chili each year is fun! |
|
How long you have lived in OB? I have lived in OB since 2006.
Favorite OBTC Event: I love the Holiday Festival. Watching my fellow OBceans march in the parade and help collect supplies for the Food and Toy drive is the reason I moved here - community spirit and friendship. Favorite OB Memory: Every time I spend a day at dog beach with my wife and our pups. Why you are on the Board? I feel that every one in the community should do their part to help make OB a safer place, a better place and a place we can be proud of. The Board gives me an outlet to put some hard work and appreciation back into OB. Why someone should join the OBTC? Our quaint little "surfing village" needs help in maintaining the charm and energy we have all come to love. Without the help of friends and neighbors, OB might fall victim to the ordinary and become just "some town". The more people that get involved and help out, the more change we can produce and the more unique OB will remain. |

How long you have lived in OB? 4 years and counting Favorite OBTC Event: The World-famous OB Street Fair and Chili Cook-off Favorite OB Memory: My husband proposing while we were on our surfboards watching the fireworks on the 4th of July. Why you are on the Board? To give a little back to the community I love. Why someone should join the OBTC? To help make OB even better! |

How long you have lived in OB: Officially since February 2011, but a frequent visitor since 1998. Favorite OBTC Event: The Ocean Beach Chili Cook-Off. Favorite OB Memory: Watching the expression on my son's face for his first fireworks show during the 4th of July in OB. Why you are on the Board: To make a positive impact in our community by advocating for improved public services and resources, a sustainable local economy, neighborhood safety, increased civic engagement, and the maintenance of our unique Ocean Beach vibe. Why someone should join the OBTC: To help keep OB cool by being engaged in our community. |

How long you have lived in OB: About three years…
Favorite OBTC Event: The Street Fair and Chili Cook-off. Hula-hoops, art, chili, friends, fun and sun…what else could an OBcian ask for? Now if everyone would just pick up their trash and cigarette butts when they come to enjoy the fair – then the event would be perfect!!
Favorite OB Memory: I love watching the Junior Lifeguards (and some very brave parents) jump off the pier every summer –it was even more exciting when it was my OWN son jumping for the first time this last year! Also, walking with my sons’, and the other Ocean Beach Elementary kids, down Newport Ave every December to decorate the tree and sit on Santa’s lap is a close second. Seriously, a Christmas tree and Santa on the beach?? These kids don’t know how lucky they are!
Why are you on the Board? Why not? I have lived in central California, the east coast and even overseas – and now that I am in Ocean Beach I am never leaving. This place is paradise, and I want to make sure it stays this way!
Why someone should join the OBTC: "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." ~Dr. Seuss |

How long have you lived in OB? Approaching my one-year anniversary!
Favorite OBTC event? Town Council meetings. No, I'm not kidding! I love watching the community come together and find innovative ways to make OB a better place. Plus, the political candidate debates are always entertaining.
Favorite OB memory? My first evening in OB -- listening to the waves and watching the sunset from the end of Pescadero.
Why you are on the board? My wife and I had never lived in a place where we could spend the rest of our lives -- until we moved to OB. I love this community and want to give something back. As the co-founder of a public relations firm, I hope my experience with strategic communications and running a small business can be an asset to the OBTC.
Why someone should join the OBTC? Local town councils like the OBTC are a great vehicle to voice your opinion and make a direct impact on our community -- without dealing with the massive bureaucracy at City Hall. I hope you'll join us at the next meeting! |

The board of directors are elected by the membership of the Ocean Beach Town Council (OBTC). You first must be a dues-paying member of the OBTC, which requires that you have to live, work, or own a business within Ocean Beach. If you are not a member, you apply and pay your dues directly on our website. Once a member, you can submit a letter of intent, which typically includes why you would like to be on the board, what your qualifications are (what you think you can do to help, or how you would like to help), and any other information that you think the board of directors and membership should know about you. These letters are sent to the membership prior to the election period, which takes place every September. If there are any open seats, one can be appointed by the board of directors (not full membership), during the year apart from the general election time. These types of appointments tend to go to individuals that already have experience with the board and OBTC, either as a volunteer, business donor, community activist with another local group, etc. This apointed position would then be up for reelection during the next election cycle the following September, at which time another letter of intent will need to be submitted and will then go to the full membership for review. Letters of intent can be sent directly to [email protected] or through the contact page of our website.
